No Power
Well the winter storm came and took our lights out. Yep, we have no power at my house right now. We have been staying with Todd's parents since Wed. morning since they do have electricity. I'm not going to complain since we are safe and warm and relatively in good spirits. Not sure when the power will be on and we will get to go home, but I'm hoping that it will be soon. Anyways here are a couple of pictures of the kids having fun at Grandma and Grandpa Montgomery's house.

Baby it's cold outside
What did I do today? Well since it's freezing outside and everything is icy all we could do was hang out inside really. Here's what I did today:
The above picture is of my neighbor Amy and I after we scrapped ice off our cars, our door steps, and broke up ice in our gravel driveway so we could actually drive our cars out of the driveway without slipping and sliding.
This is what I was doing before I went outside. I picked up my book The Host and was actually reading while the family napped.
After nap time Todd and the kids watched Monsters Inc. As you can see Sophia is very comfortable and had the best seat in the house.
Though it's freezing outside Sam decided he was hot inside the house and decided to push up his pant legs and sleeves to cool him off. Silly kid.
I was trying to get a picture of Sophia's new teeth but didn't succeed. Oh well. It's still a cute picture of my little girl.

Nikkis crafts
One of the crafts that I have been working on is turning baby formula canisters into something we can use again. Since we have a lot of canisters I thought it would be fun to make a few decorative containers and see what I could come up with.
The above pictures are the three that I have completed so far. I'm looking to do more and have several ideas of things I can do for them. I don't know what I'll do with them after I make more of them. Maybe list them on Etsy.com for sale or something. I don't really know.
If anyone is interested in one let me know what you would like on them and I'll see what I can do.
Kids Room
I had been contemplating changing the kids decor around for awhile. After much thought I decided that I actually really liked the animal theme that the kids had going on. The problem for me was all the extra colorful stuff that was on the wall. It didn't really mesh. So I took it down.
I replaced the educational posters (that Sam had ripped more than once and had been taped like a 100 times) and the pirate map and flag (we can use that later on when he has his own room someday maybe) and made some new things for the wall.
As you can see from the pictures above. I made several wall art things for his room. I took some zoo pictures and a couple of good pictures from different random animal magazines that we had and made a large poster and then several smaller frames. I think it turned out really cool and was really happy with how it looks. I also took 4 animal prints that are cartoons and framed them up under Sam's name above his head board.
All in all I am very happy with how it all turned out and think the room feels more cohesive. Grand total for the project was less than $25 and that was just for the frames.
My next project for the kids room is to get the wood letters for Sophia's name (like I did for Sam) and paint them and hang them on her side of the room.
What's going on with Sam
Sam LOVES his movie Kung Fu Panda and wants to watch it all the time. It is a really funny and cute movie so if you haven't seen it I recommend it.
Sam has also enjoyed playing with his play kitchen that our wonderful neighbors Hilary and Robin gave us. Sam loves to play with it and pretend he is using the blender to make 'juice'.
We are also working on potty training. It's a slow process and can be very frustrating for everyone. I wish the whole process was a lot easier.
He's also become a very fussy eater and often refuses to eat his veggies. Gotta love the terrible 2's and the exerting of power they try and do.
On a sweet note though Sam does often ask for kisses and will come and ask for them at the most random of times and then run back to whatever activity he was doing. It's very cute and very sweet.
Another sweet thing that Sam does is share his toys with Sophia. On more than one occassion I've had to take a toy from her that was just too small for her to be playing with. I do think it's sweet though that he shares with her. He has also taken to trying to help calm her down if she is upset about anything and telling her 'it's okay'.
I love my little man despite how hard it is to be around him sometimes with his mood swings. :)
Sophia's update
I have big news on Sophia.
She has two teeth! Her bottom two teeth finally poked through last Friday. She has been doing pretty good with the teething issue and hasn't been too fussy at all. I'm thankful for my sweet girl.
Sophia also got her second flu shot last Wed. and didn't even cry. This girl is tough! Her brother cries for just about anything but not Sophia.
Lastly and the biggest of the news.....Sophia crawled for the first time on Saturday!!!! She got about 6 inches and looked at me so surprised like she wasn't sure what she just did. She's been working extra hard trying to figure out how to do it again so I'm sure in no time we will have two very mobile kids in our house. Watch out world because Sophia is on her way. :)
